Study Scholarships – Master Studies for All Academic Disciplines
Objective
- This scholarship programme provides you with the chance to pursue your academic studies in Germany with a postgraduate course of study. The scholarships are financed by the German Federal Foreign Office.
Who can apply?
- You can submit your application if you have finished your first degree (e.g. Bachelor's or Diploma) by the time the funding period starts.
Research Grants in Germany
Objective
- The research grant provides the possibility to implement a research project in Germany. The programme supports research stays while pursuing a doctorate or in the initial postdoc period.
You can apply if:
- You are pursuing your doctorate at a university or research institute abroad or You have already finished your doctorate (post-doc, within 4 years after finishing your doctorate)
- You cannot apply if you are pursuing your whole doctorate at a German university
Study scholarships for natural sciences, mathematics and engineering fields
Objective
- The objective of the scholarship programme is to facilitate qualification and employability of young scientists and future experts from developing and emerging nations. It provides a chance to continue their academic and professional life in innovation-leader STEM fields in Germany with a Master's degree in mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and engineering.
Who can apply?
- The scholarship scheme is focused on high-achieving students from developing and emerging nations who would prefer to pursue a Master's degree in the STEM fields at one of the universities in Germany.
- You can apply if you have already completed your studies with a first German-recognised degree (e.g. Bachelor's degree) by the application deadline at the latest.
- If you already possess a Master's degree, you are not allowed to apply.
What is eligible for funding?
- Financing exists for a full Master's (full-time, on-campus) at a German state or state-recognised university in mathematics, computer sciences, natural sciences and engineering fields of study which are STEM areas. Interdisciplinary degree programmes will need to contain a specific STEM focus. It has to be a free tuition Master's programme. A Master's programme which has already been commenced in Germany cannot be funded.
Research Grants – Doctoral Programmes in Germany
Objective
- This scholarship programme provides you with the chance to finish your doctoral degree in Germany. The scholarships are supported by the German Federal Foreign Office.
Who can apply?
- You are eligible to apply if you possess better than average qualifications and you have finished your Master's degree or Diploma, or in special circumstances a Bachelor's degree, no later than the start of the funding period.
What is fundable?
- The programme offers financial support for a doctoral project at a state or state-recognised institution of higher education or a non-university research institute in Germany. This can either be: an individual project with supervision by a university teacher (doctoral supervisor) or part of a structured doctoral study programme Research stays abroad can also be financed if these are necessary for the proper completion of your doctoral degree. Another condition is that the stays should not be more than a quarter of the expected total financing period. You have to inform about the envisaged stays in your study plan and time table in your application documents (see 'Application documents').
Graduate School Scholarship Programme (GSSP)
Objective
- DAAD aims at strengthening the number of foreign doctoral students in planned graduate schools at universities in Germany.
Who can apply?
- Exceptionally-qualified doctoral students and junior academics and researchers who hold a Master's degree or Diploma, or exceptionally a Bachelor's degree latest at the beginning of their scholarship – depending on the graduate school.
What is fundable?
- A PhD research project at an organized graduate school at a university in Germany.
- Duration of funding Maximum of 4 years – depending on the graduate school.
Value
- Monthly stipends of 1,300 euros
- Contribution towards health, accident and personal liability insurance coverage
- Travel grant (country dependent)
- Research grant of 460 euros per annum
